Usui Shiki Ryoho’s meaning is “The Usui System of Natural Healing”. Named, after Dr. Mikao Usui, who lived in Japan in the late 1800s. Dr. Usui, after many years of meditation, study, and world¬wide searching, discovered the long-lost key to Reiki in the SANSKRIT SUTRAS. Dr. Usui, however, established a technique of healing the spirit through the five precepts of Reiki, extending the healing beyond the physical body. The Usui system was taught: to disciples and students, including the late HAWAYO TAKATA, who was responsible for introducing Reiki to the United States in 1937.
The following 5 precepts were given by Dr. Usui, the founder of the Usui System of Reiki.
